ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - It finally looks like winter in sections of upstate New York that haven't had much snow this season.
A storm has dumped up to 8 inches in the southern Adirondacks, while parts of the Mohawk and Hudson Valleys have received 4 to 6 Thursday morning, forcing scores of schools to cancel classes or delay their start by two hours.
The National Weather Service says the heaviest snow is in Fulton County on the Adirondack Park's southern border, where 8 inches has fallen, and in areas south of Albany.
Forecasters say the snow will turn to rain Thursday in most areas of eastern New York.
More snow is forecast for Friday in the Adirondacks, where freezing rain is expected to give way to snow showers that could dump 3 to 6 inches.
