According to the county, it has grown from 146,555 residents in 2000 to 155,058 residents in 2011, an increase of 5.8 percent. That reached a 40 year high since a population peak in 1970. According to the county, the population has increased every year since 2000.
“The County Legislature has worked hard to create a welcoming environment for businesses as well as develop fun and exciting things for our residents and their families to do,” said Judy Dagostino, Chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature in a statement. “Our efforts have paid off as people continue to find out what a great place Schenectady County is to live, work and raise a family.”
