NISKAYUNA - A hit and run accident in Niskayuna sent five people to the hospital.

It happened near State Street and Balltown Road just before 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Police say a car driven by 19-year-old Fanneza Saffie was stopped at a red light. That's when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

“Four children, all ranging in ages between 10 to teenagers, all girls” said Thomas Kennedy, who pulled over the help at the scene. “They were all complaining of head and neck injuries and crying, it was terrible.”

One person had to be airlifted to Albany Medical Center with head and neck injuries.

The other four women were taken to Ellis Hospital with what are being described as minor injuries.

The pickup truck was last seen heading Westbound on Albany Street toward Schenectady.

It's reported to have front end damage. If you have any information about this accident, call Niskayuna Police.
