Niska-Day 32 to be held 'Vegas Style'

NISKAYUNA – This year, Niska-Day will be held ‘Vegas Style.’

The all-day occasion will be held on Saturday, May 18, and the parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekawitha Church.

Other Niska-Day events will include a rock climbing wall, face painting, fireworks, live entertainment and more.

CROP Walk to be held Sunday, May 5

SCHENECTADY – There will be a CROP Walk held in Schenectady on Sunday, May 5.

The CROP Walk celebration for families and neighbors to walk together to take a stand against hunger.

The overall route is 5K (3.2 miles) with a shorter “Golden Mile” option available.

Kickoff ceremonies begin at 1:20PM with registration from 12:30 at Emmanuel Friedens Church at 218 Nott Terrace.

Niskayuna Relay For Life Golf Tournament held May 19

NISKAYUNA – Local families and friends are invited to join Niskayuna students Michael Corcoran and David Kosineski for their Golf Tournament to raise money in support of the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life.

The tournament will be held at the at Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park from 11:30AM- 7:00 PM

Statewide effort aims to stop declining number of volunteer firefighters

CAPITAL REGION – Volunteer fire departments across the state will be opening their doors

and fire truck bays during the weekend of Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.

This part of the third annual RecruitNY statewide volunteer firefighter recruitment effort.

Subway Relocates and Expands on State Street

SCHENECTADY - Subway celebrated its grand reopening at 1478 State Street in Schenectady with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Chamber of Schenectady County on April 10.

The new Subway is open Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
